What to include in your first message

• Your name, company and preferred reply address.
• Whether you need bare PCBs, assembled boards or both.
• The board family, approximate dimensions, layer count and requested quantities.
• The current design revision and whether it is released or still being developed.
• Any critical material, impedance, bend, component or test requirement.
• The delivery country and the milestone you need to meet.

Use a subject line that identifies the project and request, such as “Fabrication inquiry — controller board Rev C.” If the message concerns an existing discussion, retain the project reference so the files and decisions can be connected to the same requirement.

Sending technical files

For fabrication, prepare the board data, drill information, profile and manufacturing drawing. For assembly, add the BOM, placement data and assembly drawing. The RFQ preparation page provides a file checklist and explains how to label revisions.

If your project requires a confidentiality agreement, describe that requirement before sharing the controlled design package. Agree the permitted handling and transfer method with the intended recipient. Do not place passwords or unrelated confidential information in a general project description.

Capability and quality questions

When a requirement is close to a published limit, identify the relevant feature and include enough context for a useful review. A question about minimum spacing, for example, should also identify the copper requirement and affected layer. See capabilities for the inquiry scope.
